CDC Workplace Health Tools and Resources, 01100

Description:  The session will discuss a wide range of information, tools, resources, and guidance developed by CDC or by organizations in partnership with CDC aimed at supporting employer efforts to build, maintain or enhance workplace health programs.  The tools and resource focus on specific health issues such as obesity; various evidence-based strategies or interventions; or processes involved in establishing a workplace health program such as organizational assessments and have been disseminated in a number of ways.

Learning Objectives

• Describe CDC’s health promotion framework and strategy for chronic disease prevention in the workplace.
• Provide examples of CDC Workplace Health information, tools, resources, and guidance
• Discuss ongoing efforts to develop additional Workplace Health resources

About the Presenter

Jason Lang

Jason is the Team Lead for Workplace Health Programs where he has managed projects and provided leadership for the CDC National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention’s (NCCDPHP) Workplace Health Initiative since 2007. His responsibilities include involvement in CDC strategic planning around worksite health promotion, acting as a coordinator among NCCDPHP Divisions and liaison among CDC Centers around workplace health; providing subject matter expertise to government and private sector partners; working on models of chronic disease program integration in the workplace; and working directly with the private sector to develop employer-based tools and resources for workplace health assessment, program development, and evaluation.

He is a graduate of the 1998 Public Health Prevention Service (1998-2001), a CDC post-graduate fellowship consisting of work at CDC headquarters and in the field.  He was assigned to the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in Baltimore, MD from 1999-2001.  While in Maryland, Jason helped establish Maryland’s comprehensive cancer and tobacco control programs as well as organizing a statewide physical activity coalition. He received his M.P.H. and M.S. degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
