Joan Cowdery, PhD, Health Education in a Virtual World.  This presentation will demonstrate how virtual worlds, specifically Second Life, can be used to deliver health communication messages and to conduct health education interventions.  In addition to a demonstration of the Second Life platform, the utility and potential of on-line virtual worlds in health education will be discussed.

About the presenter:  Joan Cowdery (PhD, University of Alabama) is an Associate Professor of Health Education in the School of Health Promotion & Human Performance at Eastern Michigan University. Research interests include the use of innovative health communication and behavior change strategies, including tailoring and the use of virtual worlds, in health education and health promotion.
